Is Your Employee Handbook Up-to-Date? Help is On the Way.

Yeva DucasBy Yeva Ducas, SHRM-CP
CSA Director of HR & Workforce Development

Many members have told me recently that they need to create an employee handbook from scratch or update an existing handbook that is many years outdated. I'm glad to hear that updating your handbook is on your to-do list.

My best resources recommend that you review your handbook every two years to stay consistent with changes in company policy and to maintain compliance with employment laws. It's too easy to put off regular reviews. Here's why you should bother:

Don't Wait! Join the Store Manager Roundtable for Mississippi & Louisiana

CSA is now forming its third Store Manager Roundtable, serving dealers located in Mississippi and Louisiana, and you still have time to join us. If you are interested in having your store managers participate, please click on the link below and submit a participation form as soon as possible.

Dealers have consistently rated CSA roundtables as one of the best member benefits we offer. The atmosphere is open and honest, and your staff won't be placed in a roundtable with direct competitors. Ken Wilbanks will facilitate this new group, bringing more than 35 years of experience in LBM, hardware and home-center operations.

We will limit participation to 10 companies and 20 people. No company may send more than three participants, but we have a separate offer for companies with more than three people.

Click below for more information and the participation form. If you have questions about this (or any) of the CSA Roundtables, contact CSA President Jim Moody at [email protected] or (678) 674-1860; ext. 105.

It's Official: Deadline to Submit OSHA 300A Forms is Dec. 1, 2017

Victor ShellBy Victor Shell
CSA Director of Safety & Transportation

It's official! Your OSHA 300A forms must be submitted electronically. I'll try to spell it out for everyone, if that's possible!

Most of you will fall under the high-risk industry, classified as 4441 Building Material and Supplies Dealers.

OSHA requires that you, as employers, submit injury and illness data to them electronically. If your company employs 20-249 employees in this high-risk category, you must submit information from your 2016 form 300A by Dec. 1, 2017.

Your 2017 form 300A must be submitted by July 1, 2018. Every year after 2018, 300A forms must be submitted by March 2.

If you have questions, contact Victor Shell at 678-674-1860 or [email protected]
